Rome

Rome is an eternal city and it was fun being back but rather different touring in a bus with stops for picture taking and walk-abouts. 52 years ago we were a bunch of pretty, thin, high energy college coeds walking everywhere and having so much fun!
The increase in traffic and the number of scooters along with the Smart cars intrigued me. The people on the scooters would drive down the road on the wrong side and then scoot back in front of our bus or another vehicle just in time to avoid an accident. Absolutely crazy!!! I wonder what the Rome death rate is for scooter drivers - especially since helmets are few. Parking also was a joke - they parked everywhere and anywhere. The Smart cars especially were very creative.
Of course I had to take a picture of the police car - a Land Rover!
Wonder how many visitors spend time looking at the various vehicles and the drivers?
This is a view of the Pallatine Hills where several Roman Emperors lived. The beautiful white monument is to Victor Emmanual, the first king of modern Italy.
