We had lunch in a lovely hotel in the new section of Granada. Saw this painting in an art gallery - loved it and thought a photo would be a gift to Scott! The first snow of the season had fallen the previous night and the ski slopes were open! Reminded me of Salt Lake City where the slopes are so accessable from downtown! There was lots of construction in this city - it is growing!

It was wonderful to wander on our own with a local map and not to on a tour! Guess I am not the tour type - even though it is the ideal way to see a lot when you don't have much time and don't know your way around!
We arrived in Ajaccio, Corsica the morning of the local street bazaar and enjoyed roaming around looking at all the stalls and the local people shopping. Enjoyed going to an Internet Cafe and having a cup of Expresso (Internet was then free). We then wandered around town and to the home where Napolean was born
This might be the smallest country in the world but it also just might be the most impressive!! The chairs were set up for the Wednesday morning Papel blessing and mass. We arrived after this. The Pope's chamber is in the 4th picture and he waves from the 2nd window. These are the famous swiss Guards.
St. Peters is a wonder! The tour had us spending lots of time in the Sistine Chapel and I wished for 10 times the alloted time in St. Peters. I was so glad the floor still shows the size of the other cathedrals around the world. I was interested to learn that the remains of Pope Pius XII are being held in the basement awaiting action for sainthood - this was announced since our return. This was only of interest in that we were part of a group that was "blessed" by Pope Pius in 1957.
